Additional Information: Corporal Harry Hink was the youngest child of 8 in his family and the only one that served in WWI. Father: Louis Hink, born October 31, 1853 in Ohrel, Laddrostei Stade, Hanover, Germany, immigrated at age 18 to the United States on July 9,1869 to reunite with his father, Lutje, who emigrated a year earlier. Lutje passed away shortly after Louis’s arrival on November 21, 1869. Louis’s occupation per 1900 Census was a Teamster. Louis died in 1901 when Harry was only 9 years old. Mother: Lena Hink (nee Stolte) was born September 7, 1854 in Germany, emigrated to the United States as a child in 1866 and married Louis on 4 September 1877. The 1910 Census lists Lena (age 55) living with her three sons, Henry (age 25), John (age 23) and Harry (age 17) at 1146 East 60th Street. Harry’s occupation is listed as a laborer/drill. Later in life, Lena moved in with her daughter, Bertha Immke. Siblings: Friedrich Albert (1877-1907 ); Lena Maria McCleod ( 1879-1960 ); Heinrich David (1880-1880); Bertha Christine Immke (1881-1954 ); Heinrich Herman (1884-1931); John William (1887-1957) Wilhelm Heinrich (1889-1890).
