Private George Faehnrich was the older of two brothers who served and died in World War I. [See Michael Faehnrich.] The brothers registered for the draft and enlisted on the same day as each other, both trained at Camp Gordon, Georgia, deployed to Europe one day apart, and were killed in France 22 days apart. Their remains were sent home six months apart, first Michael and then his older brother George. They share a gravestone.
