On July 8, 2026, we received the following email from a descendent of Private First Class Norman Leslie MacLean:
"Hello, my name is Katy C. and I’m writing today from Michigan. I am sorting through some family photos that I inherited from my grandma, who was born and raised in Cleveland. I found pictures of this soldier Norman MacLean in her memorabilia and on the back of one of them is written “cousin of mothers”. (Best I can tell is that Norman’s mother’s brother married one of my grandma’s aunts, making him a distant cousin by marriage to Katy.)
When I looked him up, I found your website and I learned he has a tree and a plaque in Shaker Heights. I wanted to send you these photos for your use as well. It’s amazing to know what he sacrificed for our country. It’s very humbling.
