Additional Information: Wife: On 8/1/1917 [5 months before deployment for WWI], at age 25 and employed as a Clerk, he married Katherine Corrigan, age 29. Katherine Corrigan McElroy Callaghan (1887-?) was born in Owenduff, Mayo, Ireland and emigrated ~1910. She remarried in 1934 to James Callaghan; Child: Son Guy McElroy Jr. (1918-1940) was born on June 5, 1918, seven months after his father deployed to France and eight months before his father died in WWI. In the 1920 and 1930 Census records, he and his widowed mother were living together in Cleveland. In the 1940 Census, Guy McElroy, age 21, was living at the Institution for Feeble-Minded Youth in Scioto, Pickaway County, Ohio. He died in Scioto, OH that same year. No cause of death was found; Father: Samuel E. McElroy (1866-1952), born New Philadelphia, OH, occupation Railroad Engineer; Mother: Mary Matilda Marshall McElroy (1869-1910), born Wheeling, West Virginia, buried Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, Cleveland, OH; Siblings: See Sibling Lists at left.
