Clarification: Name was apparently George Edward Nadsady, although inconsistencies and inaccuracies in various accounts put some aspects of this biography in question. The Cleveland Police Museum information below may be partially inaccurate. Names in the Nadsady family get confusing because there are so many duplicates. Research shows that George Edward Nadsady, a Cleveland policeman before the war, died of homicide during the war, not of a motor vehicle accident. His brother [correction - not his father] Edward Henry Nadsady was also a Cleveland policeman. Years later, brother Edward Henry Nadsady’s son George Robert Nadsady died of a motor vehicle accident.

Cleveland Police Museum biography: George Edward Nadsady was born on June 6, 1891 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was appointed a Cleveland Police Patrolman on February 1, 1917 and assigned Badge Number 714. Officer Nadsady was initially assigned to the 3rd Precinct and then transferred to the 11th Precinct. Having prior service as a Fireman in the US Navy, he requested a Leave of Absence and enlisted in the US Army during World War I.  Nadsady served in France at “the front” with the 331st Infantry Regiment, which was part of the 83rd Infantry Division and composed entirely of Clevelanders aged 21-31. Corporal Nadsady was killed in a motor vehicle accident on November 8, 1918 [alternate cause of death listed as homicide]. Officer George Nadsady was survived by his father Edward, mother Veronica (nee Konkol), brothers Joseph, Peter, and Edward Henry Jr. [also a Cleveland policeman who had a son George Robert Nadsady who died of a motor vehicle accident. This nephew, Second Lieutenant George Robert Nadsady (1921-1943), son of George Edward Nadsady’s brother Edward, and presumed namesake of George Edward Nadsady [WWI soldier] died tragically in 1943 at age 21. He had married only a few months earlier and was killed when he was hit by a truck at an airbase in South Carolina, where he was training as a B-25 bomber pilot.
