Biographical Sketches of Individual Soldiers: Plaques Located in Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights

"We have work to do as a nation to make sure that all of our heroes' stories are told."  President Barack Obama

Before reading the biographical sketches, please be aware of the following:

All attempts were made to present accurate information.

Some of the names on the bronze plaques were misspelled, probably due to the fact that the list of 850 soldiers memorialized on Liberty Row was retyped years later from the original list, which seems to have been lost. Spelling errors may also have occurred during the bronze casting process.

At the top of each soldier's page, we listed his surname exactly as it was cast on the bronze plaque. In the text of the biographical sketch, we corrected the name based on research findings.

It was not always clear what war medals were awarded posthumously, due to incomplete and/or conflicting information.
