Sculptor Sabin Howard’s A Soldier's Journey (right section of the sculpture), Washington, DC
"We have work to do as a nation to make sure that all of our heroes' stories are told." President Barack Obama
When reading the biographical sketches, please be aware of the following:
All attempts were made to present accurate information.
Some of the names on the bronze plaques were misspelled, probably due to the fact that the list of 850 soldiers memorialized on Liberty Row was retyped from the original list years later. The original list seems to have been lost. Spelling errors may also have occurred during the bronze casting process.
In our presentation of each soldier's biography, we corrected the name based on research findings.
It was not always clear what war medals were awarded posthumously, due to incomplete and/or conflicting information.
