Father: Aloysius "Louis" Bartelme (1855-1927), born Mitterdorf ander Raab, Weiz Bezirk, Styria, Austria, emigrated 1886, occupation Cabinet Maker in the Showcases Industry; Mother: Mary Schleimer Bartelme (1862-1903), born Windischdorf, Eferding Bezirk, Upper Austria, Austria, emigrated 1886, had 11 children of whom 5 had survived as per the 1900 Census and had at least one additional child after 1900. She died in 1903 at age 41 of septicemia. Siblings: Joseph Bartelme (1887-?); Emma Bartelme Mann (1890-1940), who in 1920 named her only child born after the death of her brother "Helen Ann," (initials H.A. the same as her brother). (Helen Ann Mann (1920-1999) would have been Private Henry A. Bartelme's niece had he lived and may have been his namesake.); Edward Bartelme (1897-1964); Frank Bartelme (1900-?); George Bartelme (1901-1984).
