Marriage: On 6/4/1917 in Monroe, Michigan, at age 30, he married Leila Ely Allshouse (1877-1956), a bookkeeper. She had been married once previously, was almost 10 years older, and had a son from her previous marriage Laurence G. Leach born 12/16/1910. In the 1920 Census, she was widowed and listed as a Lodge Keeper living with her son and 9 boarders at 5704 Dibble Ave., Cleveland, OH. At her death nearly 40 years after her husband Private Roy Dayton Leach's death, she was buried alongside him at West Park Cemetery; her gravestone was inscribed with the words "Beloved Wife of Roy."
